Election Day is November 3, 2020
Why Am I Running For Office?

I am an unusual candidate. I have no “personal agenda.” When I say this, many people look at me and typically make a weird face and say “oh come on now, everyone has a personal agenda.” However, I can honestly say that I do not, and I am truly here to be the voice of my constituents.
Many people of whom I speak with, tell me that they have an opinion or an idea, but they do not bother to voice this because no one listens anyhow. This bothers me on every level. It can make people feel anxiety and lack of control in regards to things which are most important to them. That is no way to run a city. If I had the time before election day, I would sit down with every person who lived in my district, listen to their dreams and ideas, take these conversations with me when I serve on city council, and do my part to build the type of community my constituents want.
I may not be able to do every single thing on the list, but should I fall short, you will receive an answer as to why. Not just “we can’t do that,” or no answer at all. I am so tired of those in the money positions getting the financial breaks and directing this city to meet their own needs. You have my word, if I am elected, I will bring your voice to the council and we will work together to bring the direction around to a more plausible environment which you want. All it takes is the willingness of the constituents and my determination as well as persistence. I won’t take big money. I won’t sell out my values to anyone. Any campaign I run must be honest and true. Hopefully that will win elections and allow me to do good things for people. My life is a challenge. If we all work together we can make this city extraordinary!

I am going into politics. It is not a passing phase for me. It’s something close to my heart, and the desire strengthens, daily. This administration is an atrocity and needs to be replaced before they get us killed. Bravado is nothing more than a penis measuring contest. Violence solves nothing! But diplomacy and discussion do. We are too large a country to try living like it’s the 1950’s again. Move forward and #Unite4Progress. My advice to those who do not like my political posts… Don’t read them. Scroll past until you get to the kids, puppies and kitties. That is what I do. Many of you get your news from Alt-right satire. If you want to believe that stuff, be my guest, but I’m in this for the real politics. The real solutions to world problems. My name is Melanie Bernhardt, and I will change the world. No matter how long it takes!
